2019 OCCMA Summer Conference
The 2019 OCCMA Summer Conference will be held from July 9 through July 12, 2019 at the Best Western Plus Agate Beach Inn, in Newport, Oregon.
The OCCMA Professional Development Committee has planned a diverse series of educational sessions ranging from financial forecasting, actively dealing with personnel issues, social media, finding balance between staff and council goals, and more. The Conference begins on Tuesday afternoon with a trade show reception that evening.
There will be activities for families, including a beachside campfire with s’mores. New this year will be a fun family activity – The Amazing Newport Race! Fashioned after the television series, families will be given a list of interesting and unique Newport areas, and asked to provide a photo of themselves at that spot. The winner of the Amazing Newport Race will be announced on Thursday evening at the President’s reception and dinner, held at the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
The City of Newport is very pleased to host OCCMA for the 2019 Summer Conference. We encourage you to bring your families and enjoy the great conference and summer fun at the beach!
A note about registration types:
Member Registration
This rate is a benefit of your current OCCMA membership. If you're unsure about your OCCMA membership standing, please contact [email protected] to check.
Non-Member Government Registration
If you are not an OCCMA member, but work for a government agency you should choose this option.
Non-Member Corporate Registration
If you are not an OCCMA member or a government employee please choose this option. If you have more than one non-member, corporate registration for your organization, please contact [email protected] to discuss a group rate.
Student Registration
Students currently enrolled in University but who are not working for a city, please select this option. Your name badge will reflect your school name as your organization and your title will be listed as student. If you are a student, but currently working for a city and wish for your badge to reflect as such, please register using the member or non-member rate.
ICMA Senior Advisors, Retired, Lifetime & In-Transition Members
ICMA Senior Advisors, ICMA official representatives and qualifying In-Transition, Retired or Lifetime members are invited to use this complimentary registration option. If you are not sure if you qualify, please reach out to [email protected] to confirm.
Scholarship Recipient Registration
Please use this option only if you have been notified that you were awarded a scholarship for the 2019 OCCMA Summer Conference. If you are not sure if you qualify, please reach out to [email protected] to confirm.
Registration and Cancellation Information:
Registration Dates
Conference registration will be open between the dates of Friday, April 26 and Tuesday, June 25, two weeks prior to the start of the conference. Those wishing to register after June 25 will need to do so on-site at an additional fee and on a space-available basis.
Late Fees
Registrations received within three weeks of the conference (after June 18th) will incur a $50 late fee.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel your registration for any reason before June 18 at 5:00pm, we would be happy to transfer your registration to another attendee or provide a full refund. Please contact [email protected] to make this request. Cancellations requested within three weeks of the event (after June 18) are not eligible for refunds, however, if the cancellation is due to extenuating circumstances, the Board of Directors may provide additional consideration after the conculsion of the event.
What's Included
The registration fee includes all sessions, receptions and meals for registered attendees. Spouses/guests and children are invited to attend the complimentary Wednesday breakfast, all three receptions and paid Wednesday lunch without registering. Spouses and guests who wish to attend the conference sessions and/or additional meals must register.
Hotel Accommodations
Hotel reservations are not included in the cost of conference registration and must be made separately from this registration system. Reservations may be made at the host hotel, the Best Western Plus Agate Beach Inn, by calling 541-265-9411 and requesting rooms for the City Managers 2019 Summer Conference.
