2023 OCCMA Summer Conference

The 2023 OCCMA Summer Conference will be held from July 19 through July 22, 2023 at the Pendleton Convention Center, in Pendleton, Oregon.

The OCCMA Professional Development Committee has planned a diverse series of educational sessions ranging from a comprehensive legislative update, ethics, DEI, economic development funding, energy issues facing Oregon, how to breakdown silos, local tours and more. A golf tournament is planned for Wednesday morning, and the Conference program begins on Wednesday afternoon with the legislative update, a welcome reception and new attendee mingle that evening at the Pendleton Convention Center.  

A note about registration types:

Member Registration

This rate is a benefit of your current OCCMA membership. If you're unsure about your OCCMA membership standing, please contact [email protected] to check.

 

Non-Member Government Registration 

If you are not an OCCMA member, but work for a government agency you should choose this option.

 

Student Registration 

Students currently enrolled in University but who are not working for a city, please select this option. Your name badge will reflect your school name as your organization and your title will be listed as a student. If you are a student, but currently working for a city and wish for your badge to reflect as such, please register using the member or non-member rate.

 

ICMA Senior Advisors, Retired, Lifetime & In-Transition Members 

ICMA Senior Advisors, ICMA official representatives, and qualifying In-Transition, Retired, or Lifetime members are invited to use this complimentary registration option. If you are not sure if you qualify, please reach out to [email protected] to confirm.

 

Scholarship Recipient Registration 

Please use this option only if you have been notified that you were awarded a scholarship for the 2023 OCCMA Summer Conference. If you are not sure if you qualify, please reach out to [email protected] to confirm.

 

Registration and Cancellation Information:

 

Registration Dates & Late Fees

Conference registration will be open between the dates of Wednesday, May 24, and Monday, July 10, however a $50 late fee will apply for registrations received after June 28.  Those wishing to register after July 10 will need to do so on-site with an additional $50 fee.

 

Cancellations

Cancellations requested within three weeks of the event after June 30 at 5:00 pm are not eligible for refunds, however, if the cancellation is due to a bereavement, unforeseen medical issue, transportation failure, or an event of force majeure then staff, in consultation with the OCCMA President, may grant refunds after the deadline. Cancellations are not accepted by phone and must be made in writing to [email protected].

What's Included

The registration fee includes all sessions, receptions, and meals for registered attendees. 

 

Guests/Spouses

Guests, spouses and children are invited to attend the two receptions. Please indicate in your registration how many guests you plan to bring.

Staff has secured group rates at the following hotels. 

Wildhorse Resort and Casino

To make reservations call the resort at 1-800-654-9453 or go to the website to utilize the booking ID (#18905 or OCCMA). You must book your room by Wednesday, June 28 to ensure you receive the special group rate. 

Radisson Hotel Pendleton

The Hotel Pendleton

The Hotel Pendleton (currently branded under The Marigold Hotel) is getting a major face lift which will be completed by June 1 has rooms set aside for us. If you are interested in booking there, please email [email protected].

The first Pendleton Round-Up was held on September 29, 1910. Participants will learn how this event has grown into a week-long celebration of western heritage that includes parades, concerts, a night pageant, and more!

Participants will learn how Pendleton is using urban renewal to promote the vitality of downtown and the Umatilla riverfront. This tour will involve walking so please dress appropriately.

This will be a tour of the last 30 years of economic and community development on the Umatilla Indian Reservation. This will include Housing projects, Economic Development, Community Development, Energy Projects, Community Facilities and Infrastructure. The tour will include the history of the developments, philosophy of development patterns, relationship with the region and state jurisdictionally, socially and economically. The tour will include a number of stops where we can get out of the bus, and get a guided mini tours with facility managers.

The Pendleton UAS Range (PUR) is one of the nation's leading UAS testing and development centers - supporting over 23,000 UAS operations last year alone. Participants will be able to tour the center and learn why a drone isn't proven until it's proven in Pendleton.
