Speakers: Alice Cannon & Elaine Howard

The course will review the background and purpose of urban renewal as a tool in cities, and will also offer strategies and tips for successful governance and oversight of urban renewal agencies. 

Alice Cannon - Alice Cannon has more than 25 years of local government planning and urban renewal experience. Most of her service is with Oregon's rural cities and suburban communities within the Portland metro area. She currently works for Wasco County in The Dalles, serving as the Long Range/Special Projects Planner. She holds a bachelor's degree from University of Oregon, and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Colorado at Denver. Alice has held board  positions with the Oregon City/County Management Association (OCCMA) and the Oregon City Planning Directors Association (OCPDA).

Elaine Howard - Elaine Howard is the principal of Elaine Howard Consulting, LLC. She has worked on more than 100 urban renewal feasibility studies, plans, and reports for local governments over the past 16 years. In addition, Elaine has vast experience in both private and public sector development.
